Scholarships were awarded to (5) Durham PreK Teachers to attend the 2025 Preconference session at the 2025 International Early Childhood Inclusion Institute. The event was held on May13 at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill, NC. Scholarships were sponsored by UNC Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute! Our DPK teachers were excited to attend such a dynamic and interactive session! Teachers reported that they learned so much on assistive technology to implement in their classrooms Teachers also stated they loved networking with other prek professionals from across the country!

Topic: Demystifying Assistive Technology: Practical Tips for Early Childhood Professionals

This hands-on and interactive session will explore myths and facts related to the use of assistive technology (AT) in early childhood environments to help participants plan for and use AT as part of children’s everyday routines and activities. We will include specific examples of AT that attendees can explore, make/fabricate, and try out during the session, and engage in interactive activities to learn, practice, and plan for using AT to foster belonging and inclusion for children with disabilities.
