Durham PreK had a blast at the Summer Institute 2025! Summer Institute is an opportunity to welcome teachers back for the 2025-2026 school year. This year, the institute took place over 2 days, August 18th and August 19th!

Day 1 kicked things off with an orientation that included a discussion on classroom observations, the CLASS assessment tool, differentiated instruction, professional development planning, and SmartTeach requirements. The day wrapped up with an overview of the Universal Screening tool (ASQ-3) which is a part of the Durham PreK Application process.

Day 2 teachers participated in several trainings of their choice with topics covering wellness/resilience, communication disorders, and strategies for behavior management in the classroom. Directors attended with their staff on day 1. We were very excited to have them join since this was our first year having them attend along with their staff. We were excited for the opportunity to meet with everyone and kick off the year on a positive note! CEUs were awarded for attendance.
